This style came just a few years later then the 'International Style'....some designers loved the clean simplicity of the Modern Movement ... but preferred softer curved lines and the use of wood with it's natural warmth. After WW2 with the introduction of better plastics and a new material, latex foam. Designers were encouraged to created radical new designs moulded in new shapes that were not possible in wood or metal. Isamu Noguchi, Arne Jacobsen and Pierre Paulin are just three of the many designers who created upholstered items with softer sensuous lines.
